Museo - Napoleonico

Description

"Place of Memory" of the imperial family, the Napoleonic Museum of the City Hall houses the Napoleonic lounge and dining medals.
The Napoleonic living room is the old ceremonial room of the city hall of Ajaccio. On the death of Cardinal Fesch in 1839, his collection of portraits of the imperial family was bequeathed to his hometown. It is immediately exposed in what became the Napoleonic lounge. Among the different tables, one can notice the length portrait of Napoleon 1st in coronation robes and that of Joseph Bonaparte King of Spain. The ceiling fresco traces the Napoleonic era. It was conducted in 1940 by local artist Dominique Frassati.

A second room contains an important collection of medals tracing Napoleonic history.
