Pointe des Almadies

Description

Almadies point is a rock cap of Senegal, located in the Northwest of the peninsula of Cap-Vert. It is a western point of the africain continent (17 ° 32' West longitude).

 

History

The name was originated from the word almadia itself has the origin of the arabs (El Mahdi).

Geography

The point is protected by a barrier of rocks. These reefs at the surface of the water are known as the rood way of Almadies. A lighthouse alert the boats, but many shipwrecks testify to the tragedies of the past.

However, the views are splendid, pleasant climate, the waters are conducive for surfing, scuba diving and the observation of fish, and the small island of Ngor is nearby.
