Description
Born in Dison in 1868, Adolphe Hardy had a brilliant literary career. He was honoured by the French Academy, which awarded him the Grand Prix de Langue Française (Grand Prize for French Language), intended to honour the work of a writer outside of France.
Adolphe Hardy was the first Belgian author to receive this precious distinction, which rewarded his collection of poems “Le cortège des mois” (The Procession of Months). Besides journalistic activities, the literary activity of this author from Dison was also dedicated to the novel.
The house of his birth, transformed into a Museum-Foundation, has been opening its doors to visitors for more than twenty years and presents the life of the poet through paintings, mementos and household objects.
This considerable number of objects was assembled with enthusiasm and love by Mr Joseph Gélis, the former owner of the house who passed away in 2007.
A visit is a touching experience, which is supplemented from time to time by various exhibitions.
